New Patients: Your First Visit

Everything that happens at a first appointment with us, in order, and what to bring.

The short answer

Book online or call (480) 991-3244. Bring a photo ID and your insurance card. The first visit takes 60 to 90 minutes and includes a full exam, X-rays, an oral cancer screening and a gum check. No insurance? It’s $179 for the exam, X-rays and a cleaning.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Book a time

Book online at any hour, or call (480) 991-3244. The phones are answered Monday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm and Tuesday to Thursday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. If you’re in pain, say so when you call and we’ll look for a same-day opening.

  2. 2

    Get your things together

Bring a photo ID, your dental insurance card if you have one, and a list of any medicines you take. If you had X-rays at another dentist in the last year or so, ask them to send them to us. It can save you a repeat X-ray.

  3. 3

    Find us

We’re at 6920 E. Shea Blvd #101, Scottsdale, AZ 85254, on Shea Boulevard about half a mile west of Scottsdale Road. Parking is free right outside and Suite 101 is on the ground floor. Coffee and water are at the refreshment bar while you wait.

  4. 4

    The exam

Plan on 60 to 90 minutes. The first visit includes a full exam, digital X-rays of the whole mouth, an oral cancer screening and a check of your gums.

  5. 5

    Talk it through

Dr. Omar goes over what he found, shows you the X-rays and photos, and explains your options and what each one involves. Ask anything. You decide what happens next and when.

Paying for your visit

If you have dental insurance, give us your plan details when you book and we’ll check your benefits before you come in. Without insurance, the new patient visit is $179, and our yearly membership plans cover routine cleanings, exams and X-rays. Cherry financing is available for larger treatment.

The full details are on our insurance and payment page and the current offers.

Who you’ll see

Your exam is with Dr. Omar Karaboulad, DMD or Dr. Richard Alverson, DDS. You can see the office before you come on our office tour, and find directions from your neighborhood on the areas we serve page.

New patient questions

How long is the first visit?

Plan on 60 to 90 minutes. It includes a full exam, digital X-rays of the whole mouth, an oral cancer screening and a gum check, then time with the dentist to go over what was found.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

A photo ID, your dental insurance card if you have one, and a list of the medicines you take. If you had X-rays elsewhere recently, ask that office to send them to us before your visit.

I don't have insurance. What does a first visit cost?

New patients without insurance can get an exam, full-mouth X-rays and a cleaning for $179. If you'd rather pay a yearly fee for routine care, our membership plans start at $229 a year.

I'm nervous about the dentist. Can you help?

Yes. Tell us when you book. We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral sedation for patients who need help relaxing, and the dentist will explain each step before doing it.

Do you see children?

Yes. Families often book together. Our children's membership plan covers routine care for kids 13 and under for $229 a year.

Does anyone on the team speak Spanish or Arabic?

Yes. Our team speaks English, Spanish and Arabic. Let us know when you book and we'll make sure someone who speaks your language is there.
