Dental Crowns
in Scottsdale

Crowns are custom-made caps that dentists bond over natural teeth. They come in different types, but all guarantee the same advantages. If you are searching for a dentist in Scottsdale, Arizona, who can provide life-changing treatment, we have Dr. Omar Karaboulad, DMD.

Dental Crowns Scottsdale AZ

The short answer

A crown is a cap that covers a cracked, badly worn or heavily filled tooth, or a tooth that has had a root canal. Many crowns can be designed, milled and fitted in a single visit with CEREC. Others, depending on the material and the tooth, are made by a dental lab over two or three visits, with a temporary crown in between.

Our Dental Crown Procedure

At our office, we value your time and money. Getting a dental crown takes no more than three visits, and sometimes even fewer.

The Crown Process — 3 Simple Steps

Step 1

Consultation

Dr. Omar Karaboulad, DMD, will take a close look at your overall oral health before recommending anything. He will listen to your concerns and walk you through your options, including material selection based on tooth location, aesthetics, and budget.

Step 2

Temporary Crown

Dr. Omar will remove any decay or damage and shape your tooth. After that, he will place a temporary crown and take impressions for a precise model. Your dentist will send that model to a lab where your final crown will be fabricated.

Step 3

Final Crown

Once your permanent crown is available, Dr. Omar will remove the temporary crown, place and adjust the new one, and ask what you think. Be honest about its appearance and feel. Lastly, your dentist will cement it into place.

The Types Our Clinic Offers

Metal Crowns

Whether gold, palladium, nickel, chromium, or a mix of these metals, such crowns are incredibly tough and long-lasting. They require minimal tooth structure removal but are very noticeable.

Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal (PFM)

PFM crowns combine the strength of metal with a more natural-looking outer layer. However, they can gradually wear down the opposing teeth.

Pressed Ceramic

Pressed ceramic crowns, made with a ceramic core rather than metal, are a step up in aesthetics from PFM crowns. Note that they may not last as long in high-pressure areas such as molars.

All-Ceramic or Porcelain

Advanced materials like zirconia are the closest match to real tooth enamel. They are completely metal-free, which is great if you have allergies or sensitivities.

The Benefits of Dental Crowns

Treatment for Mishappened Teeth

Nobody wants to keep a tooth damaged or decayed forever. If yours has lost its original shape and strength, a crown will restore the look you want.

Protection for Teeth

Weak teeth are more vulnerable. Crowns are robust outer layers that keep teeth safe from everyday wear and tear.

Improved Chewing Function

When your teeth are properly aligned and supported, eating becomes easier and more comfortable. Stop avoiding the foods you truly love!

Enhanced Appearance

Modern crowns are designed to match the color and translucency of your real teeth. Most people will not even notice you have one.

Long-Lasting Treatment

With proper care, crowns can last five to 15 years. Make sure you maintain good hygiene and schedule regular checkups.

Caring for Your Dental Crown

How dental crowns remain in good condition depends on the dentist's skill and the patient's efforts. Here are our care tips:

  • Temporary crown: Brush gently, slide floss out from the side to avoid loosening. Avoid sticky or hard foods.
  • Permanent crown: Brush and floss at least twice daily. Be gentle but thorough around the crowned tooth.
  • Sensitivity: Switch to sensitivity toothpaste if needed.
  • Hard foods: Avoid chewing ice or hard candy. Crowns are strong but can still break.
  • Grinding: Ask about custom night guards if you grind your teeth.
