The short answer
Bring your child in by their first birthday, or within six months of their first tooth. We see kids and teens for check-ups, cleanings, sealants, fluoride and tooth-colored fillings. Nervous children are never forced. We explain each step first, and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is available if they need help relaxing.

Preventive Kids' Care
Prevention is everything when it comes to children's dental health. Our preventive care program includes gentle professional cleanings, fluoride varnish treatments to strengthen developing enamel, and dental sealants that create a protective shield over the deep grooves of molars where cavities love to hide. We make each visit fun with kid-friendly language, rewards, and plenty of encouragement.
- Gentle cleanings that remove plaque and keep little smiles sparkling
- Fluoride treatments to strengthen enamel and reverse early decay
- Protective dental sealants that prevent up to 80% of molar cavities
- Age-appropriate oral hygiene coaching kids actually enjoy
- Cavity risk assessment with personalized prevention plans

Children's Dentistry
Early Orthodontic Evaluation
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an initial orthodontic evaluation by age seven. At this age, your child's jaw is still developing and we can spot subtle issues with tooth eruption, jaw growth, and bite alignment before they become bigger problems. Early intervention often means shorter, simpler treatment later — and in some cases, can eliminate the need for braces altogether.
- Identifies crowding, crossbites, and jaw discrepancies early
- Guides permanent teeth into better positions as they erupt
- May reduce or eliminate the need for future extractions
- Corrects harmful oral habits like thumb-sucking
- Creates a roadmap for the most cost-effective orthodontic care

We understand that some children feel nervous about dental visits — and that is completely okay. Our team is trained in child-friendly behavior management techniques that turn anxiety into curiosity. We use tell-show-do methods, positive reinforcement, and age-appropriate communication. For children who need extra support, we offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) sedation, which is safe, mild, and wears off quickly after the appointment.
- Tell-show-do approach — no surprises, every step explained gently
- Nitrous oxide sedation for relaxed, comfortable treatment
- Child chooses music or shows to watch during treatment
- Parents stay informed and involved every step of the way

Parents Ask, We Answer
Children's Dentistry FAQs
When should my child first visit the dentist?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends bringing your child in by their first birthday or within six months after their first tooth appears. These early visits help catch potential problems, get your child comfortable with the dental environment, and give you expert guidance on home care.
How do you handle a child who is scared or uncooperative?
We never force treatment on a scared child. Instead, we use tell-show-do techniques, positive reinforcement, and plenty of patience. For more anxious children, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is a safe option that helps them relax while staying awake and responsive. Our goal is to build trust, not fear.
Are dental X-rays safe for children?
Absolutely. We use digital X-rays, which emit up to 90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays. We only take X-rays when clinically necessary and always use protective lead aprons and thyroid collars. The diagnostic benefit far outweighs the minimal radiation exposure.
Do baby teeth really matter if they fall out anyway?
Yes, baby teeth are critically important. They hold space for permanent teeth, guide proper jaw development, help with speech and chewing, and affect your child's confidence and social development. Premature loss of baby teeth can lead to crowding and alignment issues that require orthodontic treatment later.
